Ladies, guess what?! I’ve discovered tricks that you can use to get out of a bad date.

Sometimes life throws this curveball at us, so it is in your best interest to equip yourself with the skills of getting out of a bad date without necessarily hurting the other person’s feelings.

Some of the things that I’m going to share with you have been tried and tested, and others are ground-breaking tricks that are yet to be written into dating advice columns.

So, if you’re the brave and crazy type, what you can do when you see that the date is going south is to slowly pick up your bag so that your date doesn’t notice, casually push your chair backwards to create some space between you and the table, and then bolt out of the restaurant faster than a flash of lightning.

Yes, run away from your date with no questions asked. Don’t stop running until you get to your car or a cab, and don’t look back, even if your date screams ‘hey! Wait!’. If you’ve already had dinner, place your half of the bill on the table before you make a run for it. At least help with the bill so that your date doesn’t think of you as a total douchebag.

If that doesn’t work, get your best friend involved in your escape plan. Send her a text message asking her to call you under the guise of having an emergency.

Go into a state of panic and take your stuff before proceeding to leave the restaurant in a panic-stricken state. Make your way swiftly out of the restaurant while letting you date know that you’ll call him later to explain everything.

If technology fails and you can’t get a hold of your friend, then pretend to be ill.

Begin with minor complaints of stomach cramps, then progress slowly to pretending that the pain is getting worse and you need to get home to get your medication. Try by all means to not go to the doctor’s room upon his insistence that you get medical attention because you will be busted for your lies while having a medical bill to foot.

But if you’re not the type of person that plays games, be honest with your date and tell him that you’re not clicking with him and you’d like to go home. Sure, he’ll be bummed because no one likes to be rejected, but at least he’ll know where he stands with you.

At least once in your life, you’ll encounter a bad date. Learn to take it in your stride and let the other person down gently.
