This Is It.
“Only the disciplined ones in life are free. If you are
undisciplined, you are a slave to your moods and your passions.”
Says Eliud Kipchoge, holder of the two fastest official
marathon times in history. He has always attributed his success to discipline.
As has been well documented; this guy doesn't have off days. He clocks between
200 and 230 km every week and still manages to incorporate 2 intense
core-stability exercises, drills and strength work-outs. All this on a dirt
track in one of the most remote places in the country.
After winning over 10 marathons, it became official that mere
mortals are not competitive enough for Kenya's favorite son. As such, the
forces that be have conspired to set him up against the only thing that waits
for no man: time.
Listen to him: “ I am running to make history, to show that
no human is limited” he says as he compares Saturday's INEOS 159 challenge to
going to the moon. Goosebumps everywhere.
Can he do it? Yes. Well, maybe. But one day I will tell my
grandchildren I watched Kipchoge try.
