Massive Recruitment of Polling/Counting Clerks by IEBC

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission invites qualified applicants for the
following temporary positions to be engaged during the general elections.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ELECTION CLERK?

The Polling Clerk is answerable to the Presiding Officer in the performance of their work. The Polling Clerk may perform any other duty assigned by the Returning Officer at the tallying centre.

Role Of A Polling Clerk In Kenya

The role of a Polling Clerk in Kenya is as follows;
  • sets up and demarcates the polling station;
  • verifies the voter’s name, ID, and voter’s card number in the register;
  • identifies a voter electronically;
  • issues ballot papers to voters;
  • marks voters to show that they have voted;
  • ensure the security of election materials under their custody;
  • manages queues and direct voters to respective polling stations.

POLLING/COUNTING CLERKS Qualifications
  • Kenyan citizen of high integrity, and be
  • non-partisan;
  • KCSE Aggregate C- and above;
  • Must be of good character and non-partisan;
  • Must be available for the entire period of the
  • exercise; and
  • A resident of the Constituency/County Assembly Ward in which they apply
Wages: Polling Clerks/Counting Clerks will be paid Kshs. 1,000 per day
