For checking your form one selection, you just needed to do one thing. Send
your index number to 20042 from your mobile phone and get to know about the selection.
The charges for sending this SMS will be determined by the individual mobile
company that you will be using.
Selection procedure of Form One admission
The following steps are followed for the computerized selection
of form one are:
- The
selected students who have managed to secure the 1st & 2nd places (for
categories of both boys and girls) can get into the national school of
their own choices, i.e. if an allocation has already been provided for
their Districts.
- In the
absence, the computer assigns such performing candidates schools of
equivalent stature to their choices;
- Selection
of the other National Schools Quota based on the ratio of candidates from
Private and public; County Schools purely selects students within a
County, all boarding schools fall under this category; The system gives an
advantage to Counties inclusive of host County in filling vacancies which
may arise during the selection (such as the inability of certain Districts
to produce candidates with more or equal to 280 marks);
- District
Selection: still done manually due to challenges of mapping primary
schools or communities to the proximity of secondary day schools.
- Selection
of Extra-County Schools which have the same features as National Schools with
the variance being the number of candidates to be picked being more within
the host Counties of the schools.
How to Download Form One Admission Letter
To download your form one joining admission letter follow
the procedure below;
- Step
1: Go to the Ministry of education website via the link provided below
Upon receipt of a notification indicating which school a
candidate has been admitted to, head to the Ministry of Education portal
available on Form
one selection
- Step
2: Select School Level
After opening the portal you will find 3 links for the three
categories of schools. Click on the appropriate one, e.g. Form One Selection
System for Extra County Schools.
- Step
3: Select School location and index number
In the next page you will need to select the County where
the school is located, the Sub County, and finally enter the candidate’s KCPE
Index number.
- Step
4: Download Form one Admission or calling letter
NOTE 1: Kindly note that admission letters will be
available once the selection process is finished. Therefore you can use the
above procedure to check the school selected to join and even download the
Admission Letter.
NOTE 2: If you are asked for a .go.ke email address and you are lost kindly contact your headmaster to provide you with one so that you can download your admission letter.
Form one admission letter- The contents of the letter. Below are some of the key highlights of the admission letters:
- All
the admission letters bear the Ministry of Education’s letterhead as
shown in the image below,
- Name
of the student, Index number and Sub County,
- School
admitted to (The Secondary school where the student has been
placed),
- Reporting
date;
- Former
primary school’s details; the letter must be stamped by the head
teacher, A disclaimer on the letter reads; “This letter will be
authenticated on being duly certified by the primary school head complete
with a certified copy of birth certificate and finally confirmed by the
admitting principal. The letter is issued without any erasure or alteration
and cannot be changed through any form of endorsement whatsoever;
utterance of false documents is an offence punishable by law.”
- The
fee guidelines from the Ministry (The letter gives fees
directions thus; “The maximum fees payable per year is detailed in the
attached schedule, do confirm the category of your school before making
any payment.”)
- Parents/ Guardians expected to go to schools where their kids have been placed to pick further joining instructions and requirements. (“Urgently get in touch with your new principal at the above school for admission requirements,” says the admission letter from the Ministry.)
