National Association for Engineering Students Kenya
Engineering student leaders from various public universities have come together to form a national association in a bid to improve the engineering sector among students. Kenya Engineering Students Association (KESA) aims to air issues affecting engineering students like engineering accreditation and encourages co-curricular activities among themselves.

The engineering leaders or representatives reign from the University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT), University of Eldoret, Technical University of Kenya(TUK), Moi University, Kenyatta University, and Masinde Muliro.

Giving an address at the first meeting, the UoN Dean, of the School of Engineering, applauded the initiative made by the university’s Engineering Student Association (ESA) and advised that it was a good opportunity for all students ranging from different universities to be united under one umbrella for interaction purposes.

“All our engineering schools need to be improved in terms of structures and laboratories to make them world-class and I am sure this initiative will be in a position to handle this and other issues that arise across our universities,” he added. He used a case like UoN, which has existed for a very long time but still bears old structures like the American wing with old pieces of equipment.

KESA met for the very first time on January 20 to deliberate on the election of new leaders and how universities can partner on inter-university activities. The elections were held on the same day whereby the student leaders, who some are in their final years will hold various positions on an interim basis.

The team will be led by the President (UoN) and other posts were distributed as follows:
Vice President-University of Eldoret
Secretary General- Kenyatta University
Organizing Secretary-Masinde Muliro
Finance secretary-Moi University
Academic secretary-Technical University of Kenya
Publicity secretary-, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)

The leaders will be tasked with forming a constitution, mobilizing students to participate in engineering activities and exchange programs.
