In the past, Kenyans could only deposit money to their Paypal accounts using third parties.
As of 9th April 2018 though, Kenyan Paypal users can now
deposit money into their Paypal accounts directly using M-Pesa via Paypal
Safaricom Paybill number 800088.
Following is a step-by-step guide on how to deposit money
into your Paypal account using your Safaricom M-Pesa line.
Please note that relevant transaction charges apply.
1. Log into your Paypal-mobilemoney account via this link.
2. Click ” Top Up to PayPal”.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. Enter the US$
amount you want in your PayPal and then click ”Calculate” to get the Kenyan
Shillings amount you need to transfer from your M-PESA.
4. Go to your M-PESA menu and select “Lipa na M-PESA”
5. Select “Pay Bill”.
6. Enter 800088 as the Paypal business
number
7. Enter the Safaricom phone number you used to connect your
PayPal to M-PESA as the account number.
8. Enter your secret M-PESA PIN number.
9. Click “send”.
Voila! You’re done!
You will receive an SMS confirmation that xxx US$ was added to your PayPal balance. You can also check the status on the Transaction History page.
