KENYATTA UNIVERSITY GRADUATION CEREMONY: WHAT TO KNOW

Kenyatta University two times a year, that is July and December celebrates its Graduation Ceremony for ALL candidates who qualified during the respective Academic Year for the conferment of various degrees and the award of diplomas and certificates at the Graduation Square. 

Kenyatta University graduation requirements include the amount you are supposed to pay for the gown, clearance and other aspects of graduation.

Conditions students need to meet before they graduate include:

  • Application is a must for those wishing to graduate.
  • Only students without fee balances will be cleared for graduation.
  • Application forms are free and available at the respective Deans of Schools’ offices at the Main Campus and also at the Directors’ and Coordinators’ offices in all other Campuses and DSVOL Regional Centers.
  • Application forms can also be downloaded at www.ku.ac.ke
  • Application forms should be filled in quadruplicate.
  • One copy of the application form should be submitted to the Dean of the relevant school; the second copy to the Registrar Academic (Central Administration Complex, 1st Floor – Room 128), the third copy to Student Finance, and the fourth copy should be retained by the applicant.

2. ACADEMIC ATTIRE

All graduands will be required to be in full academic attire during the ceremony. The attire will be issued at the respective Schools during working days upon payment of the graduation fees.

3. RETURN OF ACADEMIC ATTIRE

All graduands are expected to return the academic attire by the stipulated date, after which a fine of Ksh 500.00 per day will be levied for any attire returned after the deadline.

4. REHEARSAL

It is MANDATORY that all graduands who wish to participate in the ceremony attend the rehearsal at the Graduation Square. Graduands attending the rehearsal should be seated by 9.00 a.m.

5. GRADUANDS’ PROCESSION

All graduands will enter the Graduation Square in a procession. The procession will form at 7.30 a.m. with all the graduands lined according to their respective Schools. The procession will enter the Graduation Square at 8.00 a.m. Only graduands who will be in the procession will be allowed into the Graduation Square for the Graduation Ceremony. 

6. TIME

The Graduation Ceremony will start promptly at 8.30 a.m. Latecomers will not be allowed into the Graduation Square once the ceremony has started.

7. PROVISIONAL AND FINAL LIST OF GRADUANDS

The provisional and final list of graduands is available at www.ku.ac.ke

What is required during graduation?

On graduation day, you are required to identify your seat one day prior to the day. Seats are assigned after you have cleared from the university in terms of fee balance and university items, which include university ID.
