IEBC DENIES CLAIMS THAT IT IS HIRING CLERKS

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has denied claims that it is hiring polling and counting clerks.

The commission in a post on Twitter termed it as fake, a notice that purportedly called for applications for various roles in the August 9, General Elections.

The notice claimed that IEBC was looking to employ 262,665 polling and counting clerks, ahead of the polls.

In the forged memo, it stated that IEBC would pay Ksh. 1000 every day to the clerks for 9 days.

The list also included positions for Presiding and Deputy presiding officers, Logistics officers, Support Electoral Trainers among others.

IEBC is however accrediting election observers(Local and International), voter education providers, and the media to observe, carry out voter education, monitor, and report on electoral activities before, during & after the 2022 General Election.

To help the processing of applications, the Commission has automated the accreditation process through the development and deployment of an online Accreditation Management System which is simple and easy to use.

Accredited organizations shall be issued with identification badges, certificates and support material by the commission. $ads={2}
