When you choose to launch your medical career at KMTC, you join about 51,000 students at the College who aspire to improve the health of the communities they live in. When you join one of the 83 specialized medical courses offered at KMTC, you will be a part of the biggest human resource contribution to the health sector in Kenya; more than 85 percent of the hospitals’ workforce is trained at KMTC.

You want to be part of the College that is currently graduating over 12,000 competent health professionals every year into the health sector. Our team of more than 2,300 highly qualified and experienced teaching and administrative staff will be happy to serve you.

The national distribution of the College is its biggest uniqueness while the strategic location of the Campuses next to referral hospitals, County or Sub-County Hospitals where students go for clinical attachment its biggest asset.

With 71 constituent Campuses spread throughout the country as far as Lodwar and Garissa, Loitoktok, and Lamu, Kisumu and Kapenguria, the impact of the College in improving Kenya’s healthcare is felt in virtually all parts of the country.

The wide range of our courses, from Certificate, Diploma to Higher Diploma, reflects the institution’s responsiveness to the needs of our country. The ever-rising interest by Kenyans to study at the College is a demonstration of the trust bestowed on us by the public and the aspirations of our valued clients, the students.

The only public mid-level health training institution in the Health Ministry, KMTC started in 1927 with four students. Today it has grown tremendously, curving a niche for itself as one of the largest medical training institutions in East and Central Africa, and even beyond- drawing students from Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Sudan, and Nigeria.

How to Apply

All applications are submitted ONLINE through the application portal (Admissions Portal) available on this website: www.kmtc.ac.ke. The prospective candidates apply for admission into courses for each academic year. Selected candidates are then placed in any of the 71 KMTC Campuses located across the country.

 Procedure:

  • Prospective candidates are advised to visit the application portal, read the advertisement OR go through the College brochure Admissions Portal for more information on the various courses offered and their specific entry requirements.
  • Interested and qualified candidates are then advised to READ the application guidelines (preservice/In-service) available on the application portal
  • Candidates are advised to follow the steps given in the application guideline carefully to the end to ensure success in the application process.
  • Take note that applications for the advertised courses are closed once they are full

All applicants to KMTC are advised to ensure that their applications are correctly done to give them an opportunity to compete fairly for available training vacancies.

  1. KMTC has several courses at various levels with varying entry requirements, you are therefore required to read the advertisement or the College brochure Click Here carefully to ensure you apply correctly
  2. Determine the course you would like to study and be sure you qualify.
  3. Plan for your training at KMTC on time, funding and social support.
  4. Be ready to take up your course, if successful, in any part of this country since our Campuses are spread all over the country.
  5. Follow APPLICATION GUIDELINES and ensure you have applied in time and correctly.
  6. Regularly check your email (the one used in the application process) for notifications from the College.

Entry Requirements

To join KMTC to pursue a Certificate course, you must have a minimum of C- with specific qualifications in cluster subjects in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE). For Diploma programmes, you must have attained a minimum of C with specific qualifications in cluster subjects. Upgrading courses require that a candidate has a certificate in a respective field while for Higher Diploma programmes, candidates must have attained a Diploma course as per the following guidelines.

Short Courses

Individuals and groups such as corporate bodies, companies and government ministries interested in any course or courses can make a written request for arrangements to be made.

Charges for meals and accommodation shall be payable directly at the respective college at applicable rates. The respective college bank account details shall be provided upon admission for this purpose.

a. The fee structure is currently under review and any changes that may be approved will be communicated to you.

b. Should a student be discontinued on Academic grounds and/or any other reasons, he/she will be expected to pay full fees accordingly on resumption.

c. Upon dismissal or abscondment fees is not refundable.

d. Students are advised to make own arrangements to cover personal expenses incurred during Practical Attachment, Research etc, details of which are available from respective faculties.

e. Students are encouraged to pay applicable year’s fees in full at the beginning of the academic year but may pay in installments (1st Installment Kshs.63,200.00 payable on/or before registration and Kshs.57,500 on/or before the commencement of 2nd semester.

All students to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B and Typhoid before reporting to the college and produce a valid vaccination certificate from a recognized health facility during admission.

g. All students to have an NHIF Cover or present a copy of the Parent’s NHIF Card on admission to the college.

It is required that payment for tuition fees and other charges (1 to 9 above) be made to ACCOUNT NO.: 01003086514000 ACCOUNT NAME: CENTRAL COLLECTION   AT NATIONAL BANK OF KENYA, HOSPITAL BRANCH, NAIROBI.   Deposits can be made at any branch countrywide.   Direct cash payments to the college will not be accepted.
