The national distribution of the College is its biggest
uniqueness while the strategic location of the Campuses next to referral
hospitals, County or Sub-County Hospitals where students go for clinical
attachment its biggest asset.
With 71 constituent Campuses spread throughout the country
as far as Lodwar and Garissa, Loitoktok, and Lamu, Kisumu and Kapenguria, the
impact of the College in improving Kenya’s healthcare is felt in virtually all
parts of the country.
The wide range of our courses, from Certificate, Diploma to
Higher Diploma, reflects the institution’s responsiveness to the needs of our
country. The ever-rising interest by Kenyans to study at the College is a
demonstration of the trust bestowed on us by the public and the aspirations of
our valued clients, the students.
The only public mid-level health training institution in the
Health Ministry, KMTC started in 1927 with four students. Today it has grown
tremendously, curving a niche for itself as one of the largest medical training
institutions in East and Central Africa, and even beyond- drawing students from
Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Sudan and Nigeria.
Entry Requirements
To join KMTC to pursue a Certificate course, you must
have a minimum of C- with specific qualifications in cluster subjects in Kenya
Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE). For Diploma programmes, you must
have attained a minimum of C with specific qualifications in cluster subjects.
Upgrading courses require that a candidate has a certificate in a respective
field while for Higher Diploma programmes, candidates must have attained a
Diploma course as per the following guidelines.
